Horwich Community Allotment was started in 2003 by a group of volunteers who wanted to grow their own organic food, without taking on the commitment of individual allotments. Since then we have built raised beds, planted an orchard, put up a greenhouse and a polytunnel, and learnt a lot about growing food.

We are always looking for new volunteers. Whether you are a complete beginner or a green-fingered expert, there is plenty to do. You don’t need any equipment except old clothes and strong shoes (or wellies). Children are welcome with a responsible adult.

We are one of Bolton Wildlife Project’s “Community Food Plots” and part of Garden Organic’s “Organic Food for All” scheme. If you want to visit us to see what we’re doing or to talk about organic gardening, please give us a call.
